Mirihi Island Resort is an exceptional property in the Maldives, situated on an idyllic palm-fringed island with just 6 thatched beach villas and 36 attractive contemporary water villas. However, with so few rooms and such an excellent reputation for high quality, good food and relaxation, you will need to book very early (at least 12 months ahead for Christmas and Easter) to avoid disappointment. Mirihi Island Resort is just perfect for a quiet, intimate holiday or honeymoon.
The resort has a reputation for being a 'no news, no shoes' island and as such there has been a conscious decision not to supply televisions in the rooms - however for those who cannot live without the cricket score, there is a communal TV in the public area.
The 37 tastefully appointed villas all have designer furnishings, polished wooden floors, king size or twin beds, air conditioning, a ceiling fan and a fully stocked mini-bar. Beach Villas are extremely spacious and boast an open-air bathroom and direct beach access. Water Villas are built on stilts over the lagoon, each with large, luxurious bathrooms overlooking the ocean through large sliding glass doors. The newest addition to the accommodation options is the Two Bedroom Overwater Suite which offers the ultimate over-water experience, consisting of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living area, a furnished decking area and its own jetty.
Mirihi Island Resort has a superb reputation for its cuisine and offers a range of dining venues. There is a sand-floored buffet restaurant and an over-water a la carte restaurant, as well as a wine bar and beach bar which boasts the largest collection of fine rum in the Indian Ocean.
The island has a good range of water sports including kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and windsurfing, as well as a highly regarded dive school. Varied excursions include snorkeling with manta rays, exploring local islands and sunrise fishing trips, while Duniye Spa provides relaxation.
Mirihi of our favourite islands - highly recommended for honeymooners and couples celebrating a special occasion, but early booking is essential.
