Bequia Beach Hotel, The Grenadines

See On Map »

Bequia Beach Hotel is a colonial-style hotel in the Grenadines that combines luxury, elegance and charm, with interiors reminiscent of the 1950s. The hotel was built after Bengt Morstedt, the owner, stumbled upon the island of Bequia while cruising through the West Indies on a private yacht and fell in love with it.

Situated on Friendship Beach in the south of the island, the boutique hotel is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens full of mango, lime sugar apple, almond and papaya trees. A relaxing, friendly atmosphere is coupled with a first class restaurant, beautiful infinity pool, secluded sandy beach and far reaching sea views.

Bequia Beach Hotel offers a wide choice of accommodation to suit the requirements of all its guests - couples, friends or families. Many of the spacious suites, villas and classic rooms boast sea views, including recently built suites which are set right on the beach. All are beautifully appointed with contemporary colonial interiors, air conditioning and rattan furniture opening on to private terraces.

Bequia Beach Hotel’s cuisine has an excellent reputation. The beachside veranda at Bagatelle Restaurant is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering a fusion of local Caribbean and classic international dishes with a menu that changes daily. The restaurant holds themed nights twice each week, while on Sundays can enjoy Sunday lunch on the Beach Terrace, which is a leisurely affair accompanied by the gentle sounds of a local Caribbean string band. The Blue Tropic Restaurant and Bar is a romantic setting on the hillside, open during high season and offering a unique menu which blends Caribbean influences with Italian cuisine. International guest chefs with Michelin star experience join the well regarded hotel team and are sure to add to the special dining experience.
The hotel also owns the recently renovated Jack's Bar & Restaurant, a nearby beach bar on the beautiful Princess Margaret Beach which can be accessed by a shuttle service. Guests staying at Bequia Beach Hotel can add food & drink from Jack's Beach Bar to their hotel bill for added convenience. There are many other excellent restaurants around the island.

The resort also has two swimming pools, one with unique pool gazebos, as well as a gym and spa. A watersports centre is located beside Friendship Beach and offers complimentary equipment hire including kayaks, surfboards, paddleboards and snorkelling. Sunfish sailboats can be rented at a charge. Guests can also use paddleboards and kayaks at Jack's Beach Bar.

Bequia itself is a charming island which is well worth exploring, with numerous spectacular beaches and places of interest including a turtle sanctuary and historic plantations. Chartering a classic schooner or arranging a powerboat trip can be a great way to explore the neighbouring islands such as Mustique, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, Canouan, St. Vincent or Union Island. PADI diving courses, snorkeling at the world famous Tobago Cays or deep sea fishing trips are all available locally.

Experience the true Caribbean at Bequia Beach Hotel, this chic beach hotel on the hideaway island of Bequia.

Our Opinion

Last Visited By Rachel, Marketing manager

Bequia Beach Hotel is a delightful hotel occupying spacious gardens, with a unique style that combines modern colonial furnishings with 1950s influences and friendly staff who instantly make guests feel at home. The beach feels very natural, while the pool area is a lovely place in which to relax with convenient poolside cabanas providing shade.

There are various accommodation options, from villas with private pools to a family room on the hillside - I would highly recommend upgrading to a Beachfront Suite if budget allows, as these luxurious rooms have wonderful views over the beach and out to sea.

Dining at the hotel is a treat - the Caribbean barbeque buffet evening at Bagatelle Restaurant is a great opportunity to sample local dishes while a live band plays, while breakfast includes a selection of home-baked breads and freshly squeezed fruit juices.

The island itself is utterly charming - small enough to feel typically Caribbean yet large enough for guests to get out and explore the many beautiful beaches and plantations inland. Jack's Beach Bar, a laidback restaurant owned by Bequia Beach Hotel, is well worth a visit for the picturesque views over Princess Margaret Beach and the exceptional food.
