Bequia Beach Hotel, The Grenadines

Bequia Beach Hotel is a colonial-style hotel in the Grenadines that combines luxury, elegance and charm, with interiors reminiscent of the 1950s. The hotel was built after Bengt Morstedt, the owner, stumbled upon the island of Bequia while cruising through the West Indies on a private yacht and fell in love with it.

Situated on Friendship Beach in the south of the island, the boutique hotel is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens full of mango, lime sugar apple, almond and papaya trees. A relaxing, friendly atmosphere is coupled with a first class restaurant, beautiful infinity pool, secluded sandy beach and far reaching sea views.

Bequia Beach Hotel offers a wide choice of accommodation to suit the requirements of all its guests - couples, friends or families. Most of the spacious suites, villas and classic rooms boast sea views, including some recently built suites which are set right on the beach. All are beautifully appointed with contemporary colonial interiors, air conditioning and rattan furniture opening on to private terraces.

Bequia Beach Hotel’s cuisine has an excellent reputation. The beachside veranda at Bagatelle Restaurant is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering a fusion of local Caribbean and classic international dishes with a menu that changes daily. The restaurant holds themed nights twice each week, while on Sundays can enjoy Sunday lunch on the Beach Terrace, which is a leisurely affair accompanied by the gentle sounds of a local Caribbean string band. The Blue Tropic Restaurant and Bar is a romantic setting on the hillside, offering a unique menu which blends Caribbean influences with Italian cuisine. International guest chefs with Michelin star experience join the well regarded hotel team and are sure to add to the special dining experience.
There is also an excellent choice of local restaurants away from the hotel. The hotel has recently acquired and renovated Jack's Bar & Restaurant, a nearby beach bar on Princess Margaret Beach which can be accessed by a shuttle service.
The resort also has two swimming pools with unique pool gazebos and a Beverley Hills style gym and spa.  A watersports centre is located a short stroll along Friendship Beach and offers copmlimentary equipment hire including kayaks, surfboards, paddleboards and snorkelling. Sunfish sailboats can be rented at a charge. Chartering a classic schooner or arranging a powerboat trip can be a great way to explore the neighbouring islands such as Mustique, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, Canouan, St. Vincent or Union Island. PADI diving courses, snorkeling at the world famous Tobago Cays or deep sea fishing trips are all available locally.

Experience the true Caribbean at Bequia Beach Hotel, this chic beach hotel on the hideaway island of Bequia.

Our Opinion

Bequia Beach Hotel is a property that has been lovingly put together by its well travelled owner/operator. There is a room to suit everyone from family villas to elevated sea view rooms, or beachfront suites, some with an additional single room for a child.

Set on a naturally pretty beach you can enjoy a sunset stroll. Guests can also wander up to the bluff and snorkel. Dining at the hotel is a treat, they have Tapas bar on the hill by one of the two pools, which offers a range of beautiful bite-size dishes, then the main restaurant down by the beach has a great atmosphere with local entertainment some nights and a brilliant menu.

Breakfast is also a delight with home-baked breads and pastries and a selection of lovely teas. Bequia as a destination is something very special, it is small enough to not be built up and commercial, it feels very local, yet it is large enough for guests to be able to get out and explore many peaceful beaches and plantations.
