The Copper & Lumber Store Historic Inn is a boutique hotel in Antigua, set overlooking the water within English Harbour’s historic Nelson’s Dockyard. Reflecting its location within a World Heritage Site, the boutique hotel combines Caribbean charm with the island’s naval history.
The hotel is conveniently located with many bars and restaurants nearby as well as attractions such as Fort Berkeley and the Dockyard Museum. Guests wanting to relax can walk to nearby Pigeon Point Beach at the entrance to Falmouth Harbour or take a water taxi across English Harbour to Galleon’s Beach.
The Copper & Lumber Store Historic Inn is luxurious and elegant, occupying beautifully restored stone buildings with pastel-painted shutters. Having been built in the 18th century by the British Navy, the building was originally used to store for sheets of copper and lumber used to repair ships in the dockyard, hence the hotel’s name. It was then converted to become a hotel in the 1980s and is filled with antiques and period furnishings.
Accommodation is in 14 comfortable suites and studios with Georgian inspired furnishings, each named after one of Admiral Lord Nelson’s ships or captains in the Battle of Trafalgar. All rooms at The Copper & Lumber Store are unique in design and have a small kitchenette to offer guests additional freedom.
Breakfast is served within the atmospheric stone walls of the Mainbrace Restaurant, where lunch is also available. Doors open up to allow guests to dine al fresco within an internal courtyard or on the dockside, where they can enjoy views over the water just yards from superyachts. The restaurant isn’t open in the evenings except Fridays, when it hosts a seafood night which is popular with locals and visitors alike, promising a great atmosphere.
With a charming atmosphere and friendly staff, The Copper & Lumber Store is ideal for a short stay, perhaps combined with a sailing holiday.

I absolutely loved the charming style and the location of this hotel! Set right at the heart of Nelson’s Dockyard, you are surrounded by Antigua’s naval history and the hotel has been carefully completed to reflect this. One of the highlights for me though was a relaxed lunch on the dockside overlooking the harbour and watching the yachts come and go.
