Cobblers Cove in Barbados is a family owned hotel which was originally a plantation house, combining the charm of an English country house with Bajan style and character. The hotel is set in its own tropical gardens overlooking a white sandy, palm fringed beach on the northwest coast of the island, located within walking distance of Speightstown with its cafes, small museum and church.
The hotel has 40 spacious suites which boast a living area and a private balcony or terrace, split between 10 cottages which are set either within the gardens or overlooking the sea with panoramic ocean views. Suites are light and fresh, with a contemporary Caribbean feel. The most luxurious options are the Camelot and Colleton Suites at the Great House which are situated across two floors above the Great House, offering the ultimate in luxury with marble floors, canopied four poster beds and recently renovated bathrooms. The Colleton Suite at the Great House also features a private plunge pool on the terrace.

The Camelot Restaurant has previously been voted the best restaurant in Barbados and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the water. Internationally trained chefs create delicious menus from local ingredients including freshly caught fish, while guest chefs are a regular feature.
Sumptuous sun loungers are placed on a deck which stretches along the front of the pool overlooking the sea, with shady spots for those who wish to stay out of the sun. A few steps lead down to a sandy beach with a swimming platform further out, allowing guests to swim in a warm, sheltered lagoon created by a breakwater.
There is an exciting range of complimentary activities on offer at Cobblers Cove including sailing, snorkelling and kayaking for water sport lovers. Leisure facilities on dry land include a flood lit tennis court in the grounds, a small spa, a well equipped gym where private yoga & pilates lessons can be arranged. For those who wish to explore the nearby UNESCO site of Historic Bridgetown there are tailor made, heritage tours available.

Our Opinion

For good reason, this personal and intimate hotel is known as a home-away from home for many repeat guests on their much loved Barbados Holidays. Cobblers Cove’s décor is a mix of English style and elegance with a Caribbean twist. This family owned hotel boasts brilliant dining and welcoming service, on a beautiful beach. Each suite is fitted with great detail, space and comfort, including a kitchenette.

On arrival at the hotel you wander through the pretty gardens towards the Great House where you can enjoy a rum punch by the sea. The focal point of the hotel, the Great House is also home to two immaculate and original styled one bedroom suites, Camelot and Colleton – overlooking the beach these are perfect for those looking for something special and indulgent, I loved the bathrooms and balconies here. The attention to detail continues to show even down to the beach, where you will be served ice cold water throughout the day, with fresh fruit for in between swimming with the turtles and relaxing.

This hotel suits those looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay, at a small discreet hotel with a great reputation.
