Baros Maldives is a lush tropical island in North Male Atoll, set in the waters of a shallow lagoon surrounded by a reef rich in marine life. Guests are greeted at the airport and escorted to the resort's luxury launch for a 25 minute cruise to the island which is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Here the elegant timber and sandstone villas stand on stilts over the water or nestled among the exotic blooms that fringe the beach, creating the perfect Maldivian escape. Baros Maldives has been named among the top Luxury Hotels in the World, by TripAdvisor in their annual Travelers’ Choice Awards. Baros was also named as the top Luxury hotel in Asia, and in the Maldives.
The 75 villas are elegantly designed and beautifully furnished with large windows to let in plenty of natural light. All have private verandas with sun loungers, a spacious teak floored bedroom with a king size bed, vanity desk and a large sofa or day bed, while many also boast a private pool. In addition, you will find all the usual amenities associated with a 5* resort – a luxury bathroom, espresso coffee machine, flat screen TV, wine chiller, DVD/CD player with surround sound systems, an iPod docking station, complimentary Wi-Fi, an in-villa safe and air conditioning.
Baros has three restaurants and two bars. The thatched Lime Restaurant is set by the water and is open for breakfast and all day dining with worldwide cuisine from an a la carte menu, while the Lighthouse Restaurant is an over-water pavilion with a stunning sail roof where gourmet dinners are served accompanied by premium wines. The Cayenne Grill is perfect for al fresco dining in thatched gazebos overlooking the lagoon, where guests can enjoy a light lunch from the wood-fired pizza oven, dine on fresh seafood and grilled meat or sample the special Teppanyaki menu. Sails Bar is found at the heart of the island shaded by palm trees offering light lunches and snacks as well as a selection of signature cocktails and premium beverages, while the Lighthouse Lounge is located on the gallery about the Lighthouse Restaurant with a live band every Friday.
Alternatively, guests can enjoy a range of destination dining experiences, such as a barbecue for two on the beach, a Thai feast on the boardwalk, a picnic on a sandbank or breakfast in the privacy of your villa - Baros has a dedicated dining team to take care of it all.
The Maldives is all about relaxation and Baros is no exception - the resort's spa has four spa treatment rooms, a garden relaxation sala, a yoga pavilion and therapists on hand to personally advise on the best treatments.
The island is a great base for diving and snorkelling, with a lagoon that is teeming with fish and a house reef, some 15 metres from the shore, with amazing marine life. Try your hand at scuba diving under the watchful eye of one of the resort's professional diving instructors and progress to the PADI Scuba Dive programme or upgrade to the Ocean Water Diver certification enabling you to dive anywhere in the world. Baros is the gateway to 30 dive sites with a biodiversity of marine life to excite even the most experienced diver. Ask for details of the 'Diving by Design' programme. The resort has a resident marine biologist who can guide snorkelling excursions on the house reef - you can even adopt your own coral under the 'coral planting project' and receive pictures of your coral's growth every six months! The island has been declared the first eco-dive centre in The Maldives and offers the 'Reef Check programme' to all Baros guests.
A unique feature of Baros the Maldivian Lounge, a visitor centre with locally made artefacts, hand-crafted traditional furniture and photographs of the Maldives from the 1970s. It's also home to the world's best collection of authentic, ancient maps of the islands, adding a cultural dimension to your stay!

There is no place in the world like Baros. I've seen plenty of lagoons and beaches in my travels, but none quite as breathtaking as this. Not to mention the sense of class and luxury in such a beautifully built resort. One of the Maldives' finest.
