Velassaru Maldives is an intimate and luxurious resort in the South Male Atoll, just a 25 minute speedboat transfer from Male Airport. The resort has a stylish and contemporary feel to it and is ideally suited to couples and honeymooners. The turquoise waters of the lagoon make for a stunning contrast with the white sandy beaches that encircle the island, creating an unforgettable first impression upon arrival at the resort.
Accommodation at Velassaru is comprised of spacious bungalows and villas, either tucked away in the gardens, directly on the beachfront or perched over the turquoise lagoon. Decorated with warm colours, each room offers a luxurious sanctuary for guests to relax and unwind. To make for a really special stay, the resort also has bungalows and villas with a private pool – perfect for a honeymoon.
Velassaru Maldives has gained an excellent reputation for its gourmet dining options. The Indulgence all inclusive meal plan is highly recommended as it allows guests to sample the cuisine at all five of the resort’s restaurants. With options ranging from Japanese specialities and international favourites to Latin American inspired dishes, there is something to suite all tastes at Velassaru.
With a wide range of excursions and activities on offer, there is plenty for guests to experience during their stay at Velassaru. The resort runs regular cruises, snorkelling and fishing trips and there is a wide range of watersports on offer for those who like to stay active whilst on holiday. In addition, a PADI dive centre offers courses for novices and seasoned divers, including courses for children. For those looking for relaxation, the overwater spa offers a range of indulgent treatments and sunset yoga classes, whilst the main infinity pool provides the perfect spot to simply unwind.

Fantastic food, fantastic views, fantastic service - I can't sing Velassaru Maldives' praises enough. We had such a wonderful time, and it was all down to them.

Children: There is no kids club at Velassaru, but children are welcome. Children’s menus are available at certain restaurants and babysitting is available on request.
Transfers: Velassaru is reached by a 25 minute speedboat transfer from Male International Airport.
Facilities and Activities: Infinity pool, fitness centre, spa, tennis court, group yoga classes, PADI dive centre, watersports including waterskiing, knee boarding, wakeboarding, windsurfing, parasailing, catamaran sailing and kayaking, marine centre with onsite marine biologist.
Excursions: Excursions offered include snorkelling trips, night snorkelling, big game fishing trips, night fishing, dolphin discovery trips, sunset cruises and picnics.
Spa: The Spa at Velassaru has 10 overwater treatment rooms offering a classic range of therapies and treatments. Facilities also include a hydro pool perched over the lagoon, a relaxation room and a steam room. The Spa also offers complimentary sunset yoga classes three days a week.
Meal arrangements: Guests can book on bed and breakfast, half board, full board or all inclusive. Velassaru Indulgence is the resort’s all inclusive plan, and this includes breakfast in the main restaurant, lunch and dinner in any restaurant within the resort and a wide selection of beverages.
Dining: Vela is the resort’s main restaurant, offering a varied gourmet breakfast and international specialities for lunch and dinner. Teppanyaki is set over the lagoon and serves Japanese cuisine in one of the most picturesque spots on the island. At Turquoise, guests can enjoy continental and Asian influenced dishes in a relaxed setting under the palm trees, with a range of light bites and snacks on offer as well. Etesian offers a Latin American inspired menu with tables both outside and inside a contemporary restaurant area. For a romantic beachfront dining experience, guests can chose Sand, located right on the water’s edge and serving Pan-Indian specialities. The resort also has two bars – Fen Bar and Chill Bar. Both offer snacks, as well as a range of cocktails and other beverages.

Deluxe Villa: These villas offer ocean views and convenient access to the beach. They feature a private garden, a garden bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor shower. Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 children (only one extra bed or cot will be provided) (807 sq ft).
Beach Villa: 14 Beach Villas are located along the shoreline and offer direct access to the beach. They feature a personal wine chiller, Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules, a garden shower, an indoor shower and a bath. Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 1 child or 1 infant (1,033 sq ft).
Beach Villa with Pool: These villas offer the same comforts as the beach villas, but with the addition of a private plunge pool on a beachfront decking area. Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults + 1 child or 1 infant (1,249 sq ft).
Water Bungalow with Pool: 17 Water Bungalows with Pool extend over the lagoon and offer panoramic ocean views, with a spacious sundeck featuring a private pool. They feature a personal wine chiller, Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules, bath with lagoon views, home theatre system with Bluetooth audio streaming and floor-to-ceiling folding glass doors. Water Villa: 24 Water Villas perched over the lagoon offer a stylish over-water retreat with enviable views. Each villa offers direct access to the lagoon and a spacious private decking area.
